I got to know [Beefheart] through Eric Drew Feldman and Jeff Moris Tepper [...] around the time of To Bring You My Love (1995). They were really good friends and [Feldman] said, 'Don really likes your music.' Later on, he said, 'Don would like to speak to you.' So we started a phone relationship. We'd speak for hours: you always had to set aside time for Don. From that point on, I always sent him all of my demos, and wanted his opinion. He'd always let me know what what he thought.
[...] He liked Uh Huh Her (2004) a lot. He thought that might have been my best. He didn't comment much on Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea (2000), but he really, really liked this new record (Let England Shake). That meant so much to me.
